Long time collaborators Jay Z and Kanye West have been working together since Kanye got his start as one of Jay Z’s producers at Roc-A-Fella Records engineering the sound for Jay Z’s seminal album The Blueprint. Kanye left his classic soul-sampling mark all over classics like Izzo (H.O.V.A.) and Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love) off that album. Prior to that West was just another audience member on 1999’s Hard Knock Life Tour before being picked up by Roc-A-Fella in 2000 to work on the Jay Z track This Can’t Be Life.


Since then Kanye has become an icon in his own right and the epic meeting of these two unique minds on Watch the Throne signals a pivotal moment between the King and crown Prince of hip hop. The two are credited on the album simply as The Throne and are heading out on a 20+ city tour to trade verses in front of audiences at some of the largest arenas across the country.

Songs off the album were crafted at hotels in Australia, Paris and New York City and feature production by Swizz Beatz, Q Tip, The Neptunes, The RZA and Kanye West himself and guest appearances by Beyonce, Odd Future's Frank Ocean and Brit-pop vocalist Mr. Hudson. The first single off the album Otis features a sample from Otis Redding’s Try a Little Tenderness and Jay Z and Kanye rapping about the walls they scaled to lead their lives of luxury.
