The story opens on a weekday morning in 1979 as the employees of Consolidated Industries wake up for another mundane day in the office. Violet Newstead is a headstrong long-time employee who is frequently passed over for promotions because of her gender. Judy Bernly is a tentative divorcee who is just starting out in the workforce. Doralee Rhodes is a sassy, buxom Southern blonde who is often judged solely on her appearance. The trio of working women all struggle working under the chauvinistic President of the company, Franklin Hart, Jr., who constantly sexually harasses his secretary, Doralee. The three women's frustrations come to a head as Violet is passed over for yet another promotion, Judy experiences major difficulties adjusting to corporate life, and Doralee hears that Hart has been spreading rumors that they have been having an affair. Roz, a fellow female employee who dislikes the trio because she is secretly in love with Hart, tells him of their secret talks of their shared hatred of him, so he plans to scare them by pretending he was actually poisoned and is going to the police. When Hart tries to shake Doralee up with the rouse, she impulsively ties him up with his phone cords and the three women take the opportunity to finally take control of the office and their lives. But can they really get away with it? Get your 9 to 5 tickets today to see the girl power in full force!Discount 9 to 5:The Musical Tickets
